Introduction

This page gives information about the different facilities which we have setup to assist in project work and team collaboration.

External

Mailing list

Bob's Basement has a Mailman Mailing list. You can join the mailing list and administer your account at

https://lists.kentgeek.org/mailman/listinfo/bb-general

IRC

Bobs Basement members meet in the #bobsbasement channel on the HackerVoice IRC server (HVIrc) at irc://irc.hackervoice.co.uk.

Internal

All of the below services are run by Bobs Basement. If you have any questions about them, talk to one of the operators in our IRC channel. Any of the resources may be used for a BB Project if they are required.

Wiki

We have a MediaWiki Wiki ... but you knew that because you're reading it now! This is the main site where the activities of the group are recorded. In order to get an account to add to the wiki, please pop into IRC and ask. If you want to practice your l33t wiki editing skillz, then place use the Sandbox.

FTP

We have a FTP server. This can be used for sharing files with the group and publishing files. Anonymous FTP is available at ftp://ftp.bobsbasement.co.uk. FTP accounts can be requested from BOfH. This will give you access to the non public shared area.

Subversion

We have a subversion repository for managing code created by the project. Read only access is available at svn://svn.bobsbasement.co.uk. You can commit at https://svn.bobsbasement.co.uk. If you want to commit, you need to request an account from BOfH. We strongly encourage anyone developing code to use Subversion to share code rather than FTP. For a quick run through of essential SVN commands, see the svn guide

PasteBin

We have a pastebin for quick and dirty text uploads like code. If you are unfamiliar with pastebins check out the following Wikipedia article.

DNS

We run our own DNS infrastructure. You can request records within the bobsbasement.co.uk domain, should you need them.

Shell access

In order to facilitate group coding in a consistent environment, members can request shell access to our server, [[1]]. Present BOfH will a solid justification for a shell account, should you require one.

Bob's Basement email addresses

Members of the team can request an @bobsbasement.co.uk forwarding email address. Again, speak to BOfH.

Other

That's all for now! If there's anything else you want, feel free to ask and we'll see what we can do.
