Events
When not hacking away in our bedrooms, we do like to get out to events. Upcoming events are:
CAcert
The CAcert offers SSL certificate signing for free. Members prove their identity using a Web of Trust (WoT), similar to GPG. When you are assured by an assurer you will receive points, which allow you to get certificates signed. You can also get your GPG key signed by CAcert.
More information is available at http://www.cacert.org.
Bob's Basement has three CAcert assurers who will be happy to assure people on request.
If you wish to join CAcert you need to create an account at www.cacert.org. You then need to get assured. To do this you need to download nad fill in a CAcert Web of Trust (WoT) assurance form and present it along with two pieces of government isssue ID (namely a passport and photocard drivers licence to one of the assurers. The assurers will give you points and the more points you can collect from different assurers, the more trust and better prizes you can get!
If you wish to be assured, contact the mailing list or IRC channel to find one of the Bob's Basement assurers.
GPG
Bob's Basement is happy to do GPG keysigning on request.
For details on what it is, and how to use gpg look at:

alternatively, man gpg in linux will tell you all you need to know.
Free The Postcode
Free the Postcode is an organisation that provides information on the location of UK postcodes for free. This is done by providing the site with the GPS coordinates of a location within a given postcode. Most usually done by taking a GPS reading from outside your house. Bob's Basement members are encouraged to provide details to the project.
OpenStreetMap
A number of Bob's Basement members are keen OpenStreetMappers. We're interested in taking part in streetmapping parties.
